Statement:
At the end of 2005, Julian Oteyza traveled to Hawaii and found a connection to his Filipino heritage. An outgrowth of rekindling his appreciation of growing up in the Philippines is his new series, “Time Frames” which is displayed as film clips of Philippine heritage. By the end of 2006, this very important Centennial year, Julian will have completed 100 paintings, his homage to the country of his birth offering the viewer a visual representation of the vibrant culture Filipinos brought to the United States 100 years ago. If you were born in the Philippines; lived there; or have visited, this series offers you an opportunity to rekindle warm memories of everyday life. If you have never experienced the beauty of everyday life in the Philippines, this series offers you a glimpse of paradise through the lens of Julian Oteyza.
